OSCAR NOMINATIONS

09/03/2008 03:23
"Boooooooo I mean Yyyyyyayyyyy"
It's that time of the year where we can shake our fists angry or kiss the person next to you (honestly, the guy next to me looks terrified) the nominations are out and we are finally that one step closer to celebrating the greatest of the past year. And lets just say, I am disappointed. It is was as predictable as everyone who predicted it.

Silence is golden, apparently

Don't get me wrong but yes, The Artist was a fantastic film (the film has 10 nominations) that bought back the age of silent movies for a new generation. And actors such as Jean DuJardin, Viola Davis, George Clooney etc are all actors that have brought unmissable displays of acting. But the fact that Drive, one of this years most excellent piece of cinema was so seriously overlooked in acting, directing and screenplay is a deep shame for this years Oscars. The fact that Kung Fu Panda 2 has a nomination and Drive doesn't means that I am officially leaving the planet. I already have my bags packed.

And also for staring in three amazingly good movies including The Ides Of March and Crazy, Stupid, Love but still has nothing means that Ryan Gosling must have done something wrong in a past life because this whole scenario would not happen in a sane world.

It's ok Gosling, I will give you a hug, come to Auntie Cookie.

That being said there are some brilliant nominations that need to be scooped. Gary Oldman for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is an award that has to happen. He performed breathtakingly in that film. Also, Bridesmaid was an amazing comedy so bully for them on their Best Original Screenplay; Kristen Wigg is a genius. As well as Jonah Hill having an Oscar nod, the bro in me is extremely happy. And lets just say I am a teeney weeney bit excited that The Muppets has an Oscar nod for best original songs.

So if this guy doesn't win, I am going to eat my own head.

So its time to place your bets lovely people and guess who will win.

If you are going to say The Artist, then you are probably right.

Here's the complete list of nominations;
