Film News This Week

27/03/2012 21:26

Ah you see, while we have been enjoying the beautiful weather, Hollywood have been really busy either destroying our dreams or building them. You can decide when you read the best of the news this week.

The Good News.

Tenacious D are back! The hilarious rockers/film stars have come back with avengence since their film The Pick Of Destiny and a brand new short/ music video has appeared on our internets. With some headlining slot at UK festivals this summer and some brand new music (hopefully) heading our way, could this short mean that we are going to have a sequel to The Pick Of Destiny? let's hope so because, well, we need for Jack Black and KG in our lives. If you don't agree, you have no inner child.

(Exactly, Mr Black)

Ahhh Val Kilmer, you can be great again.

Now, onwards to a more brutal movie that has been causing waves. The Hunger Games has exceeded expectations, which is saying something because expectationswere  as high as Lindsey Lohan. jokes aside, The Hunger Games now has the third biggest opening of any movie ever. It scoared an impressive $155 million on its opening weekend. It is now lodged behind Harry Potter and The Dark Knight and that is just an estimate. Who knows how much it has gained after the first week? (We all know, the answer is; a lot!)

(Hell yeah)

The Bad News

If there is one thing in this world that could seriously do with disappearing and never coming back is re-makes. Despite wordly out cry (I can only assume), cult classic and famous novel Carrie is now a new movie in line with about 2390742372 unnecessary re-makes. Although the brilliant Chloe Mortez has been rumoured to take up the title role, it is just another scar on Hollywoods wrists. They claim it will be a more "grounded" film than the previous  while I have to argue, who can beat the performance of Piper Laurie as the demented Religious mother. Maybe we should tell Carrie about this, then she can work her magic.

(Hopefully, thats the room where re-makes are made)

And if there is one thing that I hate more than re-makes, sequels, prequels and any other -quels, is Twilight and what a surprise, teenagers all over the globe are salivating as new teaser hits the web. It's short, exceptionally short and shows the three things that keep this franchise going, sexy boys, the supernatual and true love. That is, if true love means being stalking, over bearing,  obsessing over someone and then slashing their tyres so they can't see your friends. I'm just saying. Well, here it is if you are a fan.
