And of course that means the first post back is me meliciously posting the worst and best movie news of the past week.
You know you wouldn't have it any other way.
The Good News
In a piece of news that can only be described as "bi-winning," that total bitching rockstar from Mars Charlie Sheen is back on our film screens. In Roman Coppola's film A Glimpse Into The Mind Of Charlie Swan III about an ex playboy who is devestated when the love of his life leaves him for his hard living. Although, Coppola has denied that Sheen's rather public meltdown is the reason for him obtaining his role. Rather, his talent and charisma (and tiger blood) means that we'll get a fun quirky movie that will be completely awesome. The film will get a look inside the mond of the main character. Winning.
(Theres just not enough alcohol in the world.....)
Talking about winning (and trying not to mentiom the dreaded C word.....no not that C word,) possibly the only prequel to get a juicy flowing and not groaning, The Hobbit has finally got a release date. Peter Jacksons fantasy fare that takes us back to Middle Earth, sees Martin Freeman as Bilbo, a young hobbit with a quest. More importantly, there is more Gandalf, more dwarfs and more envy at the not living in New Zealand (of course, if you do live in New Zealand, then more hurrahs for living in such a beautiful country.) Anyway, the release date is at the 14th of December which will be the perfect film for Christmas....oh crap.
(Freeman had left it til the last minute to read the script.)
Ok, so I don't know what happens to me whilst I've been away but I've somehow grown soft because I'm actually going to condone a sequel; Taken 2. Watching Liam Neelson run around and beat people up while saying snappy one liners into a phone is possibly the best sequel I could think of happening Taken 2 has just released a few more posters and picture stills and let's just say. IT LOOKS AWESOME! I'll let the pictures do the talking. If you don't agree with me, I will find you....and I will kill you......................................................................................................................................................................... I had to.
(Makes Aslan look like a pussycat)
We all know that Joss Whedon is the best thing to happen to movies since the invention of cameras (yes, I made a statement THAT big) and since Batman has gone away we can all reveal how we much prefered the snappy Avengers over Bales broodiness. That being said, the best news (after The Avengers 2) is that a go ahead will be a S.H.E.I.L.D TV show. From the guy who created Buffy. I just wet my Iron Man costume.
(Yes! More Colbie Smoulders in a leather catsuit!)
And finally, Ryan Gosling is set to star in a new movie How To Catch A Monster.
Enough Said.
The Bad News.
Lionsgate. Oh Lionsgate. Sometimes you provide great cinema such as The Hunger Games and ...yes..Repo! The Genetic Opera. And then you go and announce that you are doing yet...another...goddam..Texas Chainshaw Massacre movie. Apparently, the "plot" is that Leatherfaces cousin gets the inheritance and the estate. And of course, death death and more death. That's the last thing the world needs.
Lionsgate. Screenwriters. Directors.
Who ever did this.
I will find you.
And I will......................................................................................................
angrily argue why this is a bad idea.
